Do you want a new hobby that won’t get you bored while on your desk?
Fingerboard is just for you.
A fingerboard is small-scale version of a skateboard. This board is for your fingers. The boards were invented decades ago, back in the 70’s when skateboarding was introduced. Like skateboard tricks and techniques, a fingerboard has all sorts of tricks that you can do with your fingers. To make it simple, a fingerboard is mainly a scaled down skateboard with the same miniature parts to function the same way as those of skateboards.
These boards are approximately four inches long and have the same parts and functions of a regular skateboard. The fingerboard has a deck, trucks, wheels, risers, pivot cups, grip tape and beautiful graphics printed on them. These boards are usually made of plastic or wood. Most of the time the boards have diecast metal trucks and plastic wheels or wooden decks with bearing wheels as its main raw materials for its parts. You can also make your own fingerboard by using cardboards or sheets of veneer wood.
For several years, the fingerboard has evolved. It now has new features added such as convertible parts and better graphics that attract the market for it easily. Many toy companies and brands have introduced scaled down ramps, tracks and other devices that add to the thrill of playing fingerboard just like in skateboarding. Through this, many tricks and techniques were applied to fingerboard. This includes the “old school” tricks which are the most common and known techniques by many. Today, there are also new techniques which are new maneuvers on fingerboard that are more complex than the classic, old school tricks. This widespread trend of fingerboard has launched many contests and races just like any other sport using boards. Because of the growing trend, new scaled-down boards have been introduced like finger snowboards and hardboards.
If you are familiar with skateboarding, applying and creating new tricks using the fingerboard is easy. To start off, your middle finger and index finger will act as your feet which controls and propels the board. Your middle finger will be the “tail” or backhand of the board while your index finger will be on the middle of the deck of your fingerboard. Well, if you want a more comfortable stance, you can interchange it. Your fingers will act like your feet to make it move or stop it. Just like skateboarding, do the same with your fingers and you’ll get the basics in minutes and even seconds. Practice the basics and master them so that you can start performing more complicated tricks and techniques.
Now, if you want to have some fun even you are on your desk, fingerboard will be an entertaining hobby. You won’t be bored and tired plus you won’t have to face the many risks of an extreme sport like skateboarding. These miniature boards also give the same thrill and complexity skateboards have so it won’t disappoint you. If you are interested, then do not hold back and start with this new little sport.
